The Pattern Idea Tab

September 28, 2013

Everyone knows what it’s like to have a yarn in your stash that you have NO IDEA what to do with.  You hold it up to various body parts, imagining it as a scarf, a sweater, a… knee warmer? … but nothing sticks.  It’s the wrong consistency, you only have so many yards, it’s an unattractive color: what do you do?

As always, Ravelry has our back.

If you search for a yarn under the “Yarn” tab, you’ll be taken to a page with the different varieties of that yarn, and you can see how many projects have been made with it, what kind of projects, and so on.  There’s a lot of sifting, but you’ll find some great inspiration.  However,  there is also a “pattern ideas” tab, which sorts the project gallery by how many people used that yarn to make a specific pattern.  You’ll quickly be able to see what other people found your yarn suitable for, and it can help you make decisions about your own plans.

Here is a link to an example of the pattern ideas tab.
