It seems that everyone who walks in our store knows someone who is pregnant, about to give birth, or a new mother. One of the most timeless and appreciated presents you can make for these growing families are hand-knitted baby clothes. Sometimes you get tired of making the same pink and blue garments, so here are some creative ideas for inspiration:
We’re fans of hats that look like food. Maybe it’s the “so-cute-I-could-just-eat-you-up” phrase, but seeing a baby wearing what looks like a pumpkin, or a strawberry, or even an acorn (squirrel food) is too adorable!
If you have a sweet tooth, try making a cupcake beanie! One of you came into the store with this idea, and we absolutely loved it! It’s a very customizable pattern: you can pick any color for the ribbed “wrapping” and Stockinette “frosting,” and you can even decorate it with bead “sprinkles!”
Of course, you don’t have to stick with a beanie. If you want to try a different technique or hat style, baby hats are perfect: they don’t take as much time to make as adult hats, so you can see how it is shaping up relatively quickly. And the results are so cute!
…This isn’t a hat, but it makes us giggle. (If anyone makes a pair of these leggings, bring them in! SO CUTE!) In any case, all the above pictures link to the pattern pages on Ravelry, so we look forward to seeing you create!
