It’s almost summertime! (At least, that’s what the weather feels like these days.) Too hot to knit with wool? Try a natural fiber alternative to your everyday knitting diet!
Our shelves are bursting with many colors of Louet’s Euroflax, a sport-weight yarn made of 100% Wet Spun Linen.
At first touch, Euroflax seems stiff and wiry, almost hemp-like, which is what you would expect from a fiber made from plants. However, this yarn has an undeniably glossy sheen, beautiful color, and once the finished product has been washed (which you can do in the washing machine!) it becomes a soft, draping fabric that is light enough to wear during even the hottest days!
If you are looking for inspiration, our store has examples of patterns that are specific to this kind of yarn! In the window are two samples of “Sasha,” a layered, multi-textured, lacy, ruffled skirt – perfect for wearing on a cool summer’s day. For a smaller project, “Casey” is a beautiful cabled scarf that would look marvelous at a wedding or a garden party.
We look forward to seeing what you make with it!

If you're in the city this weekend for Bay to Breakers (or just escaping the heat) check out this art yarn installation at the Old Mint Building.
The project will be at the Old Mint for one week only.
