Knitting Your Own Top Down Sweater
Saturday January 26
Skill level : Advanced Beginner
Materials list: Ideas! Bring to class some ideas of what your perfect sweater looks like! For practice in class, please bring some worsted weight yarn in a light color, at least 50 grams. A 16 inch circular needle that is appropriate for your pratice yarn will be needed for learning in class.
Pre Class Work: Work a swatch to get the gauge you like. The swatch should be at least 6×6 in the stitch pattern you want to use. If you are going to be working any part of your sweater in the round, make sure to make a swatch using double pointed needles as well.
Find a sweater that fits the way you like. If you can bring this sweater, that would be best, however if you cannot, you will need to take some measurements. Get the chest measurement by measuring the widest part of the chest, and the length from the top of the shoulder to the lower edge. Bring these measurements to class.
Diane Soucy is the designer of the beloved Knitting Pure and Simple line of knitting patterns. While her patterns appeal to knitters of all skill levels, their simple top down seamless construction is especially designed with beginners in mind.
