Sandi Rosner is returning to teach a Fair Isle workshop at fashion knit!
Fearless Fair Isle: Saturday, January 19th, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. $65
Stranded “Fair Isle” style colorwork is a classic technique that belongs in every knitter’s repertoire. Experiment with one-handed and two-handed methods of handling the yarn to see which is more comfortable for you. Learn simple tricks for keeping your tension even. See why certain color combinations sing while others fall flat. You’ll leave with the beginning of a hat, or a finished headband. Skill Level: You should be able to cast on, knit and purl in the round on a circular needle. Materials: About 50 yards each of 3 different colors of worsted weight wool or wool blend yarn (choose colors you like together, but that have some contrast) and size 8 (5mm) circular needles 16” long. Stitch markers.
Pre-class work: Designate your colors A, B and C. Color A should be the one that contrasts most with the other two.
With circular needle and color A, cast on 80 sts. Place marker for beginning of round and join to work in the round.
With B, knit 1 round, then purl 2 rounds.
With A, knit 1 round.
With C, knit 1 round, then purl 1 round.
