Designer's Notes

  • The coat is worked in one piece from the top down.
  • The mohair will shed a lot while you are working with it, but it's worth it. It is the softest, least itchy mohair on the market. Keep a vacuum cleaner handy.
  • When the coat is done, you might want to put it in the dryer to tumble with no heat for about an hour. This will reduce further shedding.
  • Do not lay the piece flat to measure length. The piece will stretch lengthwise when it is worn, so flat measurements are misleading. Have someone hold it up while you measure, or pin it up on a corkboard to get a true measurement.
  • If you make a mistake and need to rip out, put the whole thing, including needle and dangling yarn, in the freezer overnight. This will make the mohair much easier to rip.
